As I watched a TV program discussing the recent earthquake in Haiti and comparing it to the 2004 earthquake that caused the massive tsunami, my mind began to wander. Could the sudden movement of the North pole be responsible for the increase in seismic activity we are witnessing around the globe? Despite not being a scientist or a geologist, it's an idea worth pondering. After all, certain rocks are attracted to magnetic fields because of their iron content, and it's not hard to imagine the earth's magnetic force pulling on the fault lines beneath our feet.
